What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that is suitable for hair anywhere on the body, regardless of body type of skin colour. The technique is performed in a clinic with trained clinicians and adequate electrolysis equipment and may require multiple sessions to permanently remove all body hair in the desired area.
This method of hair removal differs from many others in that electrolysis directly targets the follicles responsible for the continual growth of hair and destroys their ability to regrow hair, resulting in permanently smooth and hair-free skin.
How does electrolysis work?
Electrolysis is a technique used to permanently remove hair by means of an electrical current to destroy hair follicles. The current can be delivered as direct current which produces a chemical reaction (galvanic), alternating current which generates heat (thermolysis or high-frequency electrolysis), or a blend of both methods.
Hair is removed by inserting an extremely fine probe into the hair follicle and delivering a low-level electrical current to the follicle. The hair follicle cells responsible for hair growth and receiving blood supply to feed the hair are targeted. The hair is then removed using tweezers.
