This place is fantastic! Definitely a gem in Cork. As soon as you get inside, it smells amazing and they have this spa-like music playing, the whole ambience was so calming. I had a hydra-facial - and it was amazing! The therapy bed is heated, and the facial itself was so relaxing and rejuvenating. My skin is glowing now. I can’t recommend Beauty Regain highly enough!

Five Stars!! Where do I start, I had the pleasure of having a DMK Facial recently in Beauty Regain. Gillian was my therapist and all I can say is that it was one of the most enjoyable, if not slightly different, facials I have ever had. You need to experience this for your self. Highly recommended. Make your appointment now. Your skin will feel and look fantastic afterwards.

I’m always so excited to pop in to Mary. I can 100 percent trust her with my skin. I have been going to Beauty Regain since before my wedding over 14 years ago. So often you find people chopping and changing moisturizers, masks, serums and even beauticians looking for the perfect results when all you have to do is call in to Mary and be consistent with what she tells you to do. You will never regret it.

If you are looking for a clinic that offer results then look no further than Beauty Regain. I have just had a Hydro Facial with Liz. And I am super happy with the results. My pores are so clean and my skin hydrated and glowing. I have never got such results from one facial before. I am already booked in next month! Thanks so much for looking after me and I rest assured I will be sending all my friends into you guys.

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that is suitable for hair anywhere on the body, regardless of body type of skin colour. The technique is performed in a clinic with trained clinicians and adequate electrolysis equipment and may require multiple sessions to permanently remove all body hair in the desired area.
This method of hair removal differs from many others in that electrolysis directly targets the follicles responsible for the continual growth of hair and destroys their ability to regrow hair, resulting in permanently smooth and hair-free skin.

How does electrolysis work?

Electrolysis is a technique used to permanently remove hair by means of an electrical current to destroy hair follicles. The current can be delivered as direct current which produces a chemical reaction (galvanic), alternating current which generates heat (thermolysis or high-frequency electrolysis), or a blend of both methods.
Hair is removed by inserting an extremely fine probe into the hair follicle and delivering a low-level electrical current to the follicle. The hair follicle cells responsible for hair growth and receiving blood supply to feed the hair are targeted. The hair is then removed using tweezers.

Can you get electrolysis when pregnant?

Yes, electrolysis is generally safe during pregnancy however there are some important considerations to make before attending a session. Hormonal changes in the mother’s body may impact the effectiveness of the treatment process, since the patterns of hair growth may be erratic. This is important because electrolysis often requires multiple sessions to target follicles during various stages of normal hair growth, but pregnant mothers’ hormonal changes may affect the normalcy of that growth.
Consult with a healthcare professional and a qualified electrolysis practitioner before deciding to get electrolysis whilst pregnant.

How long does electrolysis take?

The time it takes for an electrolysis session may vary from as little as 10-15 minutes to an hour or longer. The duration of an electrolysis session varies as it depends on factors such as the density of hair in the desired area for removal, the size of the area, the growth stage of hair follicles, the method of electrolysis used (galvanic, thermolytic, blend), and the experience of the practitioner.
Furthermore, multiple sessions are recommended to target the same area over multiple hair growth cycles, thereby ensuring complete and permanent hair removal in the desired area.

How much does electrolysis hurt?

There may be some sensation of minor pain or discomfort during electrolysis, similar to a mild sting or touching a pinprick. This is caused by the insertion of an extremely fine probe into the skin towards the hair follicles and is necessary for the technique to work, but the pain or discomfort may be numbed with the use of numbing cream.
The amount of pain one may experience depends on their pain tolerance as well as the area targeted, e.g. armpits or groin area. Speak with your therapist before undergoing treatment about any concerns regarding pain or discomfort.

How many sessions do you need?

Generally, multiple electrolysis sessions are necessary to permanently remove hair from a specific area of the body. How many sessions exactly will depend on several factors, which will be determined by the practitioner in advance of your first session.
The factors that can influence how many electrolysis sessions are required include: area of body targeted, type and colour of hair, and hormone balance or imbalance in the individual. The total number of sessions may vary from around 8 to 12 or more sessions to permanently remove all hair from the targeted area.

Does electrolysis work on all skin colours and types?

Yes. Electrolysis is effective for individuals with all types of skin and for any skin colour. Rather than targeting the hair’s pigment, electrolysis goes directly to the roots (hair follicles) and delivers an electric current that interrupts its ability to regrow hair.
This gives electrolysis several advantages over laser hair removal, for example, which is not effective for individuals with specific skin colours and hair pigmentation.
